Activity -Business Intelligence


1.    Produce a table of example for unstructured and semi-structured data
2.    Explain each type of decision in business and give an example (Strategic, Tactical, Operational)
3.    Discuss the functionality business intelligence
4.    Give the advantages and disadvantages of using an application software as a mechanism for business processing






Unstructured data

It is not organized properly and does not have associated model of data. This type of data is usually in heavy text and multiple types of data. Example of unstructured data is health record, PDF files, books, photos, videos, text message and blogs. Those file are not being organized other than being placed into an object store or file system.

Semi structured data





A data types data containing semantic tag but it does not coordinate to the associated structure with a typical relational databases. Semi structured entity may belong in the same class but different attributes. Example of semi structured data is XML, email and markup languages.

Decision is business

Strategic
Strategic decision is the main choices of action a main part of business or influence of an organization. They directly contribute to the achievement goals of the organization. They have a long term of implication on the organization.

Tactical
This type of decision is planning in a short range emphasizing the current operations of various parts of an organization. Short range is known as period of time extending about less into future. Tactical decisions are usually developing in the production, personnel, marketing, plant facilities and finance.

Operational
It is the process of objective and strategic goals to tactical objectives and goals.  It describing conditions, milestones for success and explain how or what portion of a strategic plan will be put into an operation during a given operational period.

Functionalities of business intelligence
The function of business intelligence is for supporting an organization decision making process, and to help the knowledge of the employee for example managers and research analysts and making faster and better decisions.

Advantages of application software
1.    Save time and make easy to calculate instead

2.    It would make the employee communicate effectively with the customer, supplier

3.    Improves efficiency of the employee

4.    Replacing paper processes

Disadvantages of application software

1.    The system frequently slow

2.    It unable to manage or count the number of customer

3.    Sometimes it fails to run
